Disclaimer and risk acknowledgment

Disclaimer version 1 — this is the text the Get Started wizard asks you to acknowledge before showing personalized executable instructions. Browsing the knowledge base never requires acceptance.

Android Desktop Linux is an independent educational project. Compatibility assessments and installation instructions are provided for informational purposes and are not guarantees. Android devices, operating-system updates, manufacturer security controls, applications, Linux packages, and peripheral combinations can behave differently or change without notice.

Following these instructions may require installing applications outside an app store, changing security or battery settings, using developer options, running terminal commands, or installing large amounts of software. This can result in data loss, reduced security, instability, excessive battery use, heat, poor performance, application incompatibility, interrupted updates, or other unexpected behavior.

Back up important data before proceeding. Review every command and script. Restore security settings when instructed. You are responsible for deciding whether to continue and for the results on your device.

• ADL is not affiliated with Google, Samsung, the Termux project, any Linux distribution, desktop environment project, or device manufacturer unless explicitly stated. Trademarks belong to their owners.
• A compatibility result is an estimate built from the evidence shown alongside it.
• Warranty and support consequences can vary by device, region, carrier, and action taken.
• Rooting a device or unlocking a bootloader carries additional risk and is not part of ADL's default route.

What acknowledgment means in the wizard

Before showing your personalized guide, the wizard asks you to confirm five separate statements (none pre-checked):

1. I understand compatibility is not guaranteed.
2. I understand instructions may change security or battery settings.
3. I have backed up important data, or accept the risk of proceeding without a backup.
4. I will review commands and scripts before running them.
5. I accept responsibility for changes made to my device.

Your acknowledgment (version and timestamp) is stored only in your browser — it is never transmitted anywhere. Exported plans record which disclaimer version was acknowledged. If this disclaimer materially changes, the wizard asks again.
